Spray Tan Pre & Post Care Guide (Airbrush • Norvell)

At 321 SKIN, we use professional airbrush spray tanning with Norvell products to deliver a natural, streak-free glow. Proper preparation and aftercare are essential for the best color, even fading, and longer-lasting results.

🌞 How to Prepare for Your Spray Tan (Pre-Care)

24–48 hours before your appointment:

• Exfoliate thoroughly using a gentle body scrub or exfoliating mitt

  • Focus on dry areas: elbows, knees, ankles, hands, feet

• Shave or wax at least 24 hours prior (preferably 24–48 hours)

• Avoid bar soaps with heavy oils or residue

Day of your appointment:

• Shower if possible, but do NOT apply:

  • Lotion, moisturizer, oils, deodorant, perfume, or makeup

• Arrive with clean, dry skin only

• Wear loose, dark clothing and sandals/flip-flops

• Remove jewelry

⚠️ Avoid:

• Self-tanners or gradual tanning lotions for 7–10 days prior

• Heavy workouts or sweating before your appointment

✨ After Your Spray Tan (Post-Care)

Your spray tan needs time to develop and set properly.

First 8–24 hours (or as instructed):

• Avoid:

  • Water, sweating, rain

  • Exercise or heavy activity

  • Tight clothing

• Do not apply lotion or oils

• If you must sit, avoid leather or light-colored surfaces

Rinse Instructions:

• Rinse with lukewarm water only

• Do NOT use soap during the first rinse

• Pat dry gently (do not rub)

🌴 Maintaining Your Glow

To extend the life of your tan (typically 5–10 days):

• Moisturize daily with a tan-safe, oil-free lotion

• Use gentle, sulfate-free body wash

• Avoid:

  • Long hot showers or baths

  • Exfoliating scrubs, loofahs, or washcloths

  • Chlorine and salt water when possible

• Pat skin dry after bathing—do not rub

💡 Pro Tip: Hydrated skin = longer-lasting tan.

❌ What to Avoid After Your Spray Tan

• Retinol, acids, or exfoliating body products

• Body oils, oil-based lotions, or alcohol-based products

• Spray sunscreens (can cause uneven fading)

💛 Important Notes

• Spray tans do NOT provide sun protection — always wear SPF

• Results vary depending on skin type, prep, and aftercare

• Color will continue to develop over 24 hours

• Some bronzer transfer is normal before the first rinse
